Alex Schaefer is a Vice President at TKF Real Estate Investment, LLC where he focuses on sourcing and execution of value-add and core-plus investments in office and mixed-use assets.

Previously, he was Vice President, Head of Acquisitions for ALTO Real Estate Funds, a New York-based sponsor of private equity funds that invest in value-add commercial properties across the country. His primary responsibility was to guide the firm’s investment objectives from origination through closing while playing integral roles within the firm’s underwriting, disposition, real estate finance and asset and portfolio management functions.

Before ALTO, he was a Director within the Acquisitions Department of VEREIT, a publicly-traded REIT that owns over 4,000 properties in 49 states. He joined VEREIT after working for American Realty Capital in various capacities on a number of their different investment funds before eventually transitioning over to a publicly-traded investment vehicle that was merged into VEREIT.

Throughout his career, he has been involved in the underwriting and analysis of hundreds of potential real estate deals and has played a critical role in the execution of various types of transactions with an aggregate value in excess of $15 billion, including individual property developments and acquisitions, multi-billion-dollar portfolio purchases and mergers among various REITs.

Alex graduated from the University of Connecticut with a B.S. in Accounting before working for GSC Group, Omnicom and then Cushman & Wakefield.
